Bless God, Bless Others, Be the Blessing!
We believe that knowing Jesus is the greatest thing, the greatest blessing that could ever happen to you.
Walking into a new church for the first time can sometimes be intimidating or uncomfortable.
At Emmanuel, you can expect to feel welcomed and wanted. It doesn’t matter if you are new to church or further along in your spiritual journey – we are glad to have you. Join us this weekend as we learn more about God and how His Word, the Bible is relevant to our lives today.
Because we know that not everyone has grown up in church and may be in very different places spiritually, we try to communicate Biblical truths in a way that is understandable and applicable to everyone.
For your convenience we have designated our upper parking lot for our visitors and disabled members. Through the front doors you will be greeted by a friendly staff that will assist you in finding your class or a friend that may have invited you to our church.
Please don’t hesitate to ask for whatever assistance you may require, we want to be sure that your first visit to our church is one that you will be glad you made.

About Us

Emmanuel Baptist Church was founded in 1978 by Pastor Walt Zimmerman as an independent Baptist church. Pastor Z as he is still referred to today, many years now after his passing, was a member of “The Greatest Generation”. He was a WWII hero, a missionary to the Nursing Homes of New England, providing hope and comfort to many in their twilight years. He finally settled down and planted Emmanuel Baptist Church in Manchester, NH, where he would serve as her lead pastor until 1994. The vision that Pastor Z had for Emmanuel still continues today. We are a place of grace. A church where the abundant grace and abundant truth of God mix together to form something unique in our society. A welcoming and loving, understanding church, with strong convictions on the what the Bible says, and strong convictions that the amazing grace of Jesus is powerful enough to cover our sins and make us righteous before God. Pastor Z would routinely say that we were a “church of the do! Not a church of the don’t!” that he never wanted our community to think of us in a negative way, as a church of great restrictions and as an oppressive ministry. So it is today. A place of grace, a place of truth.
Our current pastor, Eric Davis, having come to faith under the ministry of Pastor Z, embraces these same values. His theme verse for our church is found in 1 John 4:17. Pastor Davis defines our vision today from this verse… “To raise up a generation of believers that are ‘
as he is, in this world‘”. Under Pastor Davis we have adopted the motto “Bless God, Bless Others, Be the Blessing” because being like Jesus means blessing the Father and loving the world. It means that we become the hands, feet, heart and mind of Jesus in our culture.
We hope this gives you better understanding of who we are and why we do things the way we do. Bless God!

What are your services like?

There will be no expectations of you (no “visitors stand up”) and there is no need to give when we take the offering. The main two elements of our services are singing and teaching. Our services typically last for about an hour and a half. They vary from one service to another; the two services on Sunday are completely different in content.
Worship. We practice what we refer to as blended music and worship at every service as we seek to praise God. It is not uncommon to sing some the latest in Christian worship music alongside some of the most endearing traditional hymns that have been with the church for literally hundreds of years. If you would like to listen to some of the newer songs that we have been incorporating into our worship follow this link. WORSHIP
Preaching or teaching. Our Pastor will preach and teach from the Bible in an understandable and practical way. His strength is applying what the Word of God says to our lives personally. Examples of some Sunday morning series and messages are When and How to Forgive, Red Letter Christians (a challenge to live out the teachings of Christ), Bitterness and how to Defeat it, Knowing God’s Will Unleashing Your Faith and Impacting Your World etc… Wednesday evening is a Bible Study, where Pastor Davis expounds the Word of God in a teaching format following either subjects or a verse by verse study. Some examples from the past are the Life of Christ study, How to Study the Bible for Yourself and a series on the books of Philemon, Philippians, Ephesians, 2 Peter, and 1 Thessalonians.

What do I wear?

To put it simply, we have a diverse congregation at every service. Whatever is comfortable for you is comfortable for us.  However you dress, you will probably see folks dressed just like you.  There is certainly no dress code; we care more about you than about what you wear.

What about my kids?

One of the Core Values of Emmanuel is to support of families. A big part of this value is that we minister to children and show them the love of Jesus.
We provide a clean and safe nursery environment for newborns through 4 years old at every service.
We also have some awesome programming for children grades k-6 during our Sunday morning Worship and Wednesday evening Bible Study.
Our Nursery, Children’s, and Teen Sunday School Classes are located to the left of the main entrance and down a short flight of stairs.

How do I become a member?

The Bible teaches that a local church is made up of believing, baptized believers.
So then, the first step toward membership is to meet with a member of our pastoral staff, with the determination to give your testimony and evidence of or need for baptism.
You can do this by simply coming to the front of the auditorium at the conclusion of any service.
For a person to be considered for membership, he or she must have a clear testimony of salvation.  That means simply, that you have come to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and deliverance from sin and trusted in Christ alone to secure your eternal destiny. Following this understanding and trusting of Jesus as your savior, you must then be immersed in water baptism with the clear grasp that this baptism is symbolic of what Christ has done for you, and declarative in that you desire to follow Him. Baptism must be done by the authority of a local church of like faith or by Emmanuel as need dictates.
To become a member of Emmanuel also means that you would affirm our Statement of Faith. An abbreviated version is found here.

I have Teens and Jr. High kids, what is there for them?

We have an active Youth Ministry for students in Jr. and Sr. high school.  Group meets on Saturday evenings from 7:00pm – 9:00pm weekly.  They also have a Sunday Bible Class just for them that meets at the 9:30am hour.  Every year during the last week in July we take the kids to a Bible Camp located in Wilmot NH, which is a highlight of their year.

Is your church accessible?

The short answer is yes!  Our pastor has a daughter who has been in a wheelchair for most of her life and so we understand the needs of those with disabilities.  The main entrance is at ground level as is the worship sanctuary.  For the Fellowship Hall and Educational Wing of the building, we have a lift for those in wheelchairs and those that have trouble navigating stairs.  If you have a need in this area please ask one of our greeters for assistance.

What about adults?

For adults we have several Bible Life Circles to choose from. A
Bible Life Circle is a small group of adults that gather together to encourage one another in their spiritual journey. Each Circle is provided with a Bible Study book. They are open to anyone member or not, and can be joined at anytime.
We also provide a Bible Life Circle for College and Career aged young adults. In addition to these classes we have an Addictions Recovery Group for people that are struggling with addictions and stubborn habits. Many meet during the 9:30am hour while our children are in Sunday School others meet during the week or on Sunday evenings at 6:00pm.

What do you believe?

In a nutshell, we believe the Bible is a special book that is unlike any other. We believe that it was given to us by God through human authors.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ. At Emmanuel we believe strongly in the “plurality of elders” as taught in the New Testament, with a “ruling elder” who is first among equals.  This provides accountability for the ruling elder who is our lead pastor, as well as encouragement and mutual discipleship among our leaders. The following people are these elders.  Coming alongside these men is a team of over 20 other men and women that by the help of the Holy Spirit lead this church.

In September of 1986 my future wife, then girlfriend, Trisha invited me to come out to a Wednesday evening Bible study.  I owe her my life.  Had it not been for her faithfulness and invitation I would not be the man I am today and would not be pastoring this wonderful church.

Just over a year later I accepted Jesus as my personal savior during a revival week with Brother Tommy Stone.  You see for the year before my salvation, I was involved in ministry at Emmanuel but I was a lost sinner.  I had what I call a hope so heart.  When faced with the reality of eternity I hoped that I would go to heaven but didn’t know
that for sure.  October 7th of 1987 I put the doubt aside by the grace of God, faced my sin and trusted Jesus to be my savior.  Following my salvation and baptism I began to serve Jesus for real in many ministries.  Three that stand out are the nursing home ministry, the music ministry and the ministry to the youth of our church. In 1998 I answered the call of God on my life to preach and began working full-time at Emmanuel the following year. Following a mission to plant a church in the Concord area of NH, I returned to Emmanuel and was voted in as her pastor in 2008. It is an honor to pastor this church and lead her into the future.

I hope that you will consider yourself at this moment.  Do you have a know so heart, or are you stuck in the heartache of a hope so heart?  Jesus’ death on the cross was enough to take all of your sins away.  He was punished enough for you and me and all that will believe and trust in him.  Above all else, please consider this, that Jesus, God in the flesh, loves you and wants to save you.  For that to happen, you must turn to God, without excuse for your sin.  You must accept full responsibility for yourself and trust the mercy that is in Jesus because of his sacrifice.  Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion proving that God the father was satisfied with Jesus’ punishment for our sins.  Call upon Him and He will save you“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.”

Ron has been with Emmanuel for over 15 years and also serves in capacity as the chairman of our board of Deacons. He has sung in a wonderful southern gospel quartet and has led the music ministry for over 10 years now.  His presence in our church is one of faithfulness and adherence to God’s way of doing things, we are blessed to have both Ron and his wife Mich. Ron leads our deacons in their care for the people and property of this church, he oversees the financial and business aspect of our church as our Executive Pastor.
